The Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation maintains PWGFS fields and is in charge of determining whether they are open or closed for play on days when there is inclement weather.  The department makes its determinations by 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends, with updates as late as noon.

PWGFS.net has two resources you can use to check field status: The link for the rain lines, and the link to field locations, which will be updated with their open/closed status.  What you hear on the rain lines takes precedence over what you see on the site or on social media.   Please look closely at the time of the latest updates on our field locations page.

In the event that inclement weather occurs after the rain lines are updated, the umpire will decide whether or not to suspend the game for 10U, 12U, and 16U games.  For 8U games it is up to the coaches to decide whether or not to suspend the game as 8U games don't have umpires.

If the county closes a field, no one can be on that field.  The league will reschedule rained-out games and post them to the calendar.  Practices will not be rescheduled.

Protocol for Weather Suspended Games:

Note the remaining time in the score book.  Make note of who is batting and what their count is.  When the game is rescheduled, it will only be for the remaining time on the clock.  For the rescheduled game, they will pick up right where they were when it was stopped.  Same batter, same count, same lineup, etc.  If there are girls who were at the stopped game but not at the rescheduled game, take them out of the lineup.  There's no penalty.  If there are girls who come to the rescheduled game who were not at the weather-suspended game, just put their names on the bottom of the lineup.
