Coaching requirements and clinics

To all prospective PWGFS coaches,

With so many new families coming into the league this year, I've wanted to first extend a welcome to all of the new coaches, and welcome back to all of our returning coaches.  Because of this influx, I wanted to let those that don't know (and remind others) what our requirements are.

Any adult who will be interacting with the girls on the field must pass a background check through USA Softball
.  After you pass your background check (usually takes a few days), you will be required to become SafeSport Certified (covers how/when to report incidents on the field), as well as testing through the ACE Testing Center.  Additionally, to maximize the safety of our players, the league requires all coaches to take Concussion Training through the CDC Heads Up Program. As you receive your background checks and certificates, provide a copy to [email protected], so they may add them to your online records.

Starting this Sunday, Feb. 20, and on the next three Sundays, from 3-5 p.m. at Rippon Middle School, PWGFS will hold its hitting and fielding clinics, led by Coach Larry and Coach Phil. Coaches are invited to these clinics to assist and learn the techniques that the coaches are providing the players, or at least come out to observe. If coming to assist, let Joe, Phil and Larry know so we can work you into the stations. If you have any questions or issues getting certified, please reach out and let me know.

I look forward to seeing you all this season.
