Walk with PWGFS in the Dale City July 4 parade

PWGFS invites players, coaches and parents to walk and ride along in the league's trailer during the Dale City July 4 parade, which returns after a year hiatus.

The parade begins Sat. July 3 at 10 a.m., but PWGFS folks will begin to gather at the Mapledale Sheetz between 7:45 and 8:30. The parade participants usually get in formation about 9 a.m.

There are some differences from previous years; We won't be throwing candy to the crowd or handing out flyers.

PWGFS has been participating in the parade for many years. Younger girls usually ride in the trailer throwing candy and singing their softball cheers. Coaches and older girls take turns walking; this year, in place of flyers we'll have a scannable QR code for more information. There will also be live pitching out in front of the float as we proceed through the crowd.

Tips for participating players:
• Wear your league jersey and shorts.
• Be sure to have on sneakers.
• Dress for the weather; aim for cool and comfortable.
• You might need sunscreen.
• Bring fluids to drink.
• Eat a good breakfast.

Parents, please arrange for transportation to meet your child(ren) at the Dale City Commuter Lot. Dale Blvd. is closed to two-way traffic during the parade and we will not be able to drive back to the meeting point to return people to their original transportation. Parents who would rather not walk with PWGFS in the parade can skip it and meet their girls at the lot at the end.

Hope to see you there.
